Manchester United Start Negotiation for Juventus Misfit

Manchester United have opened talks with Juventus to acquire Adrien Rabiot, but the deal isn’t as imminent as indicated by the early reports from England. The Bianconeri are open to selling, but the transfer isn’t in its homestretch just yet.

As per TuttoSport, the Old Lady has set a €20M price tag for the midfielder, even though he has just a year on his contract. The Red Devils have tendered €15M in their initial offer. The parties are pretty close, and coming to terms shouldn’t be challenging. On the other hand, negotiating with his mother and agent Veronique could be more tricky for the Premier League giants. He earns €7M net, plus €1M add-ons, and demand to maintain the same wages.

Monaco were after Rabiot before Manchester United showed interest. Their pursuit hinges on whether they will get past PSV in the Champions League playoff. The first leg ended in a 1-1 tie at Stade Louis II. The Red Devils are eyeing the Frenchman since purchasing Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona has gotten complicated.

While the 27-year-old wasn’t necessarily atop of Juventus’ list of outcasts, especially after Paul Pogba’s injury, they need to sell somebody to onboard Leandro Paredes. Valencia pumped the brakes for Arthur, as Gennaro Gattuso admitted: “His wages are prohibitive for us. He’s a very important player but we can’t afford this kind of signings right now.”

Our Take on Manchester United Tracking Rabiot

In an ideal scenario, the Bianconeri would sell both Rabiot and Arthur, who have been thoroughly underwhelming, to make room for one or two additions, give playing time to their youngster, and hence fix the midfield. Their payroll would surely benefit, but there’s much time to pull everything off.
