Serbian midfield ace Nemanja Matic has reportedly been ‘offered’ to Roma as he gears up to leave Old Trafford in search of greener playing pastures in Europe.
The 33-year-old central midfielder has experienced an unfruitful five-year stint at Old Trafford since arriving from Chelsea in 2017, and now it looks like a reunion with former Manchester United and Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho is in under contention.
According to reports from Calciomercato, the Serb could see out his final playing days at Stadio Olimpico as the Giallorossi prepare for a summer revamp, with the midfield position needing an experienced ace – a requirement which Matic seems to match.
It relays that the price for his transfer is ‘very close to zero’ as he enters the final year of his contract in Manchester, despite im having a transfermarkt value of €6m.

Both Mourinho and Matic enjoyed a fruitful relationship during their days together at both English clubs and an agent affiliated to Roma is close to finalizing a deal between the player and the Roman club.
A third reunion with Mourinho is in the books for Matic, but two complications arrive with the transfer.
Firstly, the veteran midfielder’s age is a factor the Giallorossi would need to seriously consider and then comes his wage demands, as he currently earns €7m net per season with the Red Devils.
Nemanja Matić, 2017: "I had other offers but Mourinho is Mourinho. It's exciting to work with him, he is the best coach in the world and I want to work with him for a long time."
Roma are reportedly interested in signing Matić as a free agent in the summer.

However, the latter of the two snags is comparatively easier for Roma to mitigate, given that they could profit from the Italian Growth Decree that would help them afford high wages.
