Manuel Locatelli Open to Move Abroad, Heaps Praise on PSG

Manuel Locatelli is poised to the subject of a bidding war between European giants this summer. The 23-year-old midfielder, who is on Juventus and Manchester City radar, spoke highly of PSG in an interview with L’Equipe and hinted at a transfer outside of Serie A.

“I would certainly like to play there. Seeing Marco Verratti, Alessandro Florenzi, and Moise Kean make a name for themselves makes me want to join as well. PSG is a top club, and I am open to leaving Italy because some opportunities do not present themselves too often.”

“The Champions League quarter-finals between PSG and Bayern Munich were fantastic. I have been impressed by the quality of the passes; it tells the difference between normal players and champions. We have the potential to reach that level in Serie A too, but we will need two or three more years. Plus, the French club has Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, a future Balloon d’Or winner, and Paris is a great city.”

Locatelli indicated that his time with the Neroverdi is coming to an end: “I thank Sassuolo because they believed in me when a lot of people doubted me. However, we are all aware of what will be the best path forward in the summer. It could lead me to another Italian team or to a foreign one.”

Sassuolo are rumored to have put a €40M price tag on the midfielder, but the fee could go up if other sides start pursuing him. He has established himself as one of the top Italian midfielders in the last two seasons, tallying 3 goals and 6 assists in 67 appearances.
