Marcos Leonardo Confirms State of Negotiation with Roma

Marcos Leonardo won’t join Roma this summer, as Santos took him off the market, but the Giallorossi remain very keen on a January addition, which they will try to seal in short order. The prodigy confirmed the turn of events (via Sambafoot).

“What happened hurts me and the club. The president made a promise and was aware I would leave in this window. Everything has been resolved now. I missed the Fortaleza game because I wasn’t focused. I was only thinking about the offer from an important club, which was my wish.”

Marcos Leonardo has ended his holdout and resumed playing with Santos while the negotiation with Roma for a future move is ongoing.

“I wanted to stay and help the team. I never considered leaving from the backdoor the side that raised me, and I’m grateful to them. When I get on the pitch, I always give my best. Santos don’t deserve to suffer this much.”

The Peixe are currently 17th in the league, which didn’t help his transfer to Giallorossi.

Our take on Roma and Marcos Leonardo

It’s unfortunate they’ll have to wait as they could use the immediate help, and it will further delay his full integration. Still, the deal figures to be a bargain if he fully pans out in a reasonable amount of time.
