Inter have no issues with the Club World Club but would rather see Serie A go back to 18 teams to unclog the schedule, as Giuseppe Marotta stated.

Marotta Provides Timetable on New Lautaro Contract

Inter and Lautaro Martinez need some more time to negotiate, but Giuseppe Marotta doesn’t expect the talks to take too long. He spoke about it to DAZN on Sunday (via Mediaset).

“We will surely reach a conclusion before the end of the season. We have a splendid relationship with his agent too. The only possible outcome is a renewal. The lead over the opponents in Serie A is large, but we mustn’t sit on our laurels. We have to achieve this extraordinary goal as soon as possible, maybe even breaking the point record.”

Marotta looked back at the Champions League elimination.

“The European cups aren’t always won by the strongest teams. There are many components, from the draw to injuries. We made some errors that we will treasure for the future. We built a team based on our capabilities and are happy with it. Our overall assessment of the season is positive.”

Marotta was quizzed about his future during Rai’s TV show La Domenica Sportiva (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“I won’t become the next FIGC president because I’m under contract with Inter until 2027. I’ll be 70 at that point. Maybe I will dedicate myself to sports from a social standpoint to valorize the youth. A responsibility like being the head of the FA doesn’t interest me.”

Marotta also anticipates Simone Inzaghi re-upping his contract.

“There are no problems since our positions align. Inter grew with him, and he’s a title-winning coach now. We’d like to continue with him. There are the premises for it to happen.”
