Giuseppe Marotta isn’t preoccupied with the verbal skirmishes with Juventus and confirmed his optimism about Lautaro Martinez’s extensions despite the delays compared to the original timetable. He spoke with Rai’s TV show ‘Novantesimo Minuto’ (via Mediaset).
“Massimiliano Allegri’s statements are part of the game. Irony and metaphors are normal. The important thing is to have respect on and off the pitch head of February 4th’s Derby d’Italia. I think he spoke in good faith. He’s surely interpreting his role in his environment. We’ll respond at the right time.”
Marotta is upbeat about Inter’s outlook.
“A winning team is always backed by a strong management. There’s a mix of executives and people who aren’t under the spotlight but contribute to putting the squad in the best possible conditions. We’re doing it and have a leader like Simone Inzaghi. In my mind, he’s a young coach with a bright career ahead of him.”
Marotta dished on Martinez’s new contract.
“We have slowed down a little because of all these matches. The advantage is that both parties of the negotiation want to continue the relationship. I think that there won’t be problems.”
Inter will hunt for their third consecutive Supercoppa win, and eighth overall, on Monday night. Only one club has pulled off the trifecta in the history of the competition, which was established in 1988: Milan from 1992 to 1995. Instead, Napoli lifted it two times and last did it in 2014.
