Valentin Carboni’s career at Inter is drawing to a close, with Marseille ‘pushing forward’ to sign the 2024 Copa America winner. According to L’Equipe, the Italian club’s staggering €30 million asking price hasn’t deterred Les Olympiens from launching talks to lure the 19-year-old to Ligue 1.
It’s no secret that Inter are keen to sell Carboni this summer. Despite the Argentina international’s undeniable potential, his characteristics don’t suit Simone Inzaghi’s system. Therefore, the reigning Scudetto holders have placed their prodigious forward on the market.
Though Monza had hoped to renew Carboni’s loan, Inter are no longer willing to negotiate temporary deals for the sought-after youngster. They’re eager to make big bucks from his imminent departure, with Marseille reportedly willing to meet their demands.
Roberto De Zerbi has been busy reinforcing his squad this summer. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Mason Greenwood have already moved to the Stade Velodrome, with Marseille completing three more acquisitions. Carboni could be their next big hit if they broker a deal with Inter.
Marseille would ideally sign the Buenos Aires native on loan with a mandatory buyout option. Inter will likely accept that proposal if they earn €30m. But the French giants hope to spread the payment across several add-ons.
That may not please Inter. In the meantime, Inzaghi’s men have joined the hunt for Federico Chiesa. With the Italian winger’s future at Juventus in Limbo, the Nerazzurri have placed a watchful eye on the ex-Fiorentina star.
