Former Inter owner Massimo Moratti is worried about the direction of the team both on and off the pitch. However, he’s not in favor of making rash decisions to try righting the ship. The entrepreneur said his piece to SportMediaset.
“We can certainly call it a crisis, but we have to pump the brakes about its severity. In the end, we aren’t very distant from the other top sides. If we bounced back, we would regain ground quickly.”
Moratti doesn’t think Inter should fire Simone Inzaghi for now.
“At the moment, he should stay at the helm. It’s still early in the season. I don’t fully know the situation within the squad and the management, but I think there’s room and time to bounce back.”
The past governor commented on Steven Zhang reportedly looking for a buyer.
“The whispers do affect the players a little, but they must not be alibis. Suning should hold on to the outfit if that’s their intention. The finances were in a better shape when they first took over. I don’t know what the solution could be. In my mind, there aren’t major issues. If the Zhang family was forced to sell, things would get even worse.”
Moratti offered his recipe to solve the Inter woes.
“The players need to win leaning on their pride and desire to show that they are a top team. That must be their main drive. Maybe they will get past their troubles midway through the season.”
