Following the Giallorossi’s team dinner at the Mancini Park Hotel, Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic spoke to the press regarding his title aspirations with Roma.
The veteran deep-lying playmaker joined the capital club on a free transfer during the summer transfer window as his contract with Premier League giants Manchester United.
The 34 year-old was eager to join the Giallorossi in order to reunite with Jose Mourinho, whom he shared some memorable moments with as the two individuals won a Premier League and an Europa League title together throughout their time at both Chelsea and the Red Devils.
So far this season, Matic featured in all ten games of the Serie A for Mourinho’s squad thus far, playing a crucial role in stabilizing the central area of the pitch, helping Roma attain a strong start to the campaign with seven wins, one draw, and only two losses.
In the press conference after the team dinner, relayed by Milan-based journal La Gazzetta dello Sport, Matic sent a message to the Roma supporters, expressing his desire to help the club attain glory within Italy:
“We want your dreams about the Scudetto to become reality soon.” We will do everything to win against Napoli. It is a pride to be part of this team, I hope to help Roma win trophies. and we hope well already for Sunday’s match. But I want your dreams about the Scudetto to soon become reality .”
