Matthijs De Ligt Tests Positive for Covid, Misses Sassuolo Match

Matthijs De Ligt tested positive for coronavirus today and will consequently miss the next Serie A game against Sassuolo on Sunday night, Juventus reported via an official statement. De Ligt is showing no symptoms and is already in isolation.

After Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro, the Dutchman is the third Bianconeri player to test positive in a few days. That will create some additional problems for coach Andrea Pirlo, who’s running out of options in defense. Pirlo will likely lineup Merih Demiral and Leonardo Bonucci as center backs in the upcoming game against Sassuolo, while Danilo and Gianluca Frabotta should cover the full back roles.
