Following the Rossonerri’s convincing 4-0 victory over Croatian outfits Dinamo Zagreb, Milan defender Matteo Gabbia expressed his pride following the vital win.
So far this season, the 23 year-old has made seven appearances across all competitions for the Milanese club.
Despite making obtaining minimal minutes under Pioli, the center back proved to be pivotal as he scored an exceptional header following a brilliant delivery from holding-midfielder Sandro Tonali.
As it stands heading into the last week of the Champions League, only one point would be enough for Il Diavolo to secure their spot within the Round of 16 of the tournament.
While speaking with Sky Italia, as relayed by MilanNews, Gabbia spoke about how much the evening means to him regarding his footballing career:
“This evening will remain etched in my mind. It is the second goal of my career after the one in Serie C with Lucchese, let’s say it was a different evening.
“I remember when I was on the other side and celebrated as a fan for Milan’s goals. I was a fan, I was at San Siro and today a great dream that has come true for me.
“I’m happy, it was an important evening. I’m happy to have found my first goal. These are three fundamental points, also not conceding a goal because it is important for us defenders to not concede goals in the Champions League.”
