Max Allegri Likes Juventus Chances Against Inter After Another Win

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has acknowledged Inter as the front-runners in the race for the Scudetto but refuses to rule out an upset in the upcoming blockbuster. Bianconeri made it five league wins in a row with a hard-earned 2-1 home triumph over Cagliari, moving to the top of the Serie A table, at least for one night.

Despite conceding their first league goal after 615 minutes, Juventus eked out another tight victory. Gleison Bremer and Daniele Rugani were on the scoresheet for the home team, helping them move six points clear of third-placed Milan, who inexplicably spurned a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Lecce earlier today.

Allegri’s side didn’t shine at the Allianz Stadium, especially the frontline. However, Juventus had free-scoring defenders to bail them out of trouble and keep the spirits high ahead of the highly anticipated Derby d’Italia in Turin. There will be plenty of time to rest and prepare since it falls on November 26, just after the international break.

Juventus will probably be pre-match outsiders, especially if Inter live up to their tag as odds-on favorites against promoted Frosinone tomorrow. But their rip-roaring start to the new campaign gives them and their manager every reason to be optimistic ahead of the derby.

In a one-off game, anything can happen. Inter are certainly the favorites to win the Scudetto, along with Milan and Napoli. We must try to remain up there above all to have the advantage over fifth place,” the Juventus boss said, as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio

Inter were built to win the Scudetto for a few years now, they haven’t managed it yet, but are the favorites this season.
