Max Allegri Unfazed by Another Juventus Blank

Juventus and Milan bored the Allianz Stadium to death as Saturday’s Serie A derby failed to live up to the billing. For once, it wasn’t entirely Bianconeri’s fault that the Turin fans left the stadium in frustration.

Milan played their part. Stefano Pioli’s men failed to produce a shot on target, a feat rarely seen from the division’s second-best attack this season. Massimiliano Allegri’s trademark defensive set-up ran like clockwork.

But that wasn’t an alibi for another uneventful showing in the front third. Juventus have drawn a blank for the second time in their last three league outings, as the figures continue to plummet for Allegri’s misfiring squad.

To make things worse, Allegri withdrew his best striker, Dusan Vlahovic, when Juventus sought a winner. Another inconceivable decision from the Bianconeri manager left the club supporters fuming.

However, the defensive-minded coach offered his view of the situation in the post-match interview, insisting the substitution made perfect sense, even though Juventus seemed closer to grabbing the opener.

It was a normal substitution. Dusan had done well, but I needed fresh legs. Milan were getting deeper, so I threw on Milik, Chiesa, and McKennie, who is good on crosses,” the under-pressure Juventus boss told DAZN, as quoted by TMW

What Allegri considers ‘normal’ gets on the fans’ nerves as calls for his dismissal flood social media. Juventus are reportedly in talks with Bologna coach Thiago Motta.

It’s still uncertain whether the ex-Inter midfielder will arrive in Turin before Allegri’s contract runs out at the end of next season. It’s no doubt Juventus fans would like to see Motta in the dugout already this summer.
