Maxime Lopez Expresses Satisfaction at Fiorentina Loan Deal

French defensive midfielder Maxime Lopez, who was once on Roma’s radar, has expressed his satisfaction with signing for Fiorentina on loan from Sassuolo. The Neroverdi accepted the Viola’s offer of a temporary one-season loan worth €1M with an option to buy for €9M, disregarding a similar bid from Inter earlier in the window.

The Marseille-born midfielder spoke to the club’s official channels (via Calciomercato) and thanked Fiorentina for the support received.

“I am very happy to have joined a strong team that is coming off an excellent season. We hope to do even better this year. I want to thank all the Fiorentina fans for the messages I received. I like playing with this pressure. I was born in Marseille and played in my hometown team which has a very warm support and I’m used to playing with this pressure. I’m very happy to have arrived at a club with ambitions.”

Agent Pini Zahavi offered Lopez to the Nerazzurri in return for Kristjan Asllani to Sassuolo at the end of the window, but Fiorentina eventually convinced the France U21 international in light of playing minutes.
