Milan Ace Returns to Italy for Final Portion of Rehab

Ismael Bennacer is back in Milan after rehabbing abroad in the first stages of the protocol to recuperate from a cartilage lesion in his right knee. He’ll resume practicing in a limited fashion. It’s not certain he’ll be able to speed up the timetable, but he’s ahead of schedule, SportMediaset informs.

The Algerian midfielder suffered the injury five months ago and underwent surgery on May 16th. He will likely be available in January. He’ll attempt to return on the pitch sooner if it’s not risky.

Bennacer got hurt in one of last season’s numerous Derbies with Inter, the first leg of the Champions League’s semifinals. He sustained a post-traumatic tear of the cartilage of the femur’s lateral condyle. He underwent surgery in Barcelona a few days later.

Rade Krunic and Yacine Adli, who burst onto the scenes lately, have been holding down the fort at his position. The Rossoneri elected not to turn to the transfer market for a replacement. If he returns soon and shows well, he might be called up by Algeria for AFCON 2024, though.

Our Take on Bennacer

His injury was tricky and uncommon, and it’d be better not to rush things. It’d be already an achievement if he came back with no visible limitations.
