Milan Added to List of Suitors for Prized Sassuolo Star

Milan have joined the host of teams keeping tabs on Davide Frattesi. The Rossoneri are in the hunt for multiple pieces in the midfield considering Ismael Bennacer’s knee injury and Brahim Diaz’s very uncertain future.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they have inquired with Sassuolo, but the difficulties are steep. They generally refrain from participating in bidding wars, while the Neroverdi are successfully stoking one. On the other hand, they are very intrigued by his skillset. Plus, he’d fit their transfer market strategy.

On top of Frattesi, Milan have been attached to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Daichi Kamada in similar positions. They are closer to the latter, who’s available on a free. They are both extra-EU players, and each club can only sign two every season. While they aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive, the team might not want to fill their quota too early.

The Roma youth product has been linked to Juventus, Napoli, Inter, and Brighton. Director Giovanni Carnevali admitted that the best offer has arrived from England thus far. However, Roberto De Zerbi denied that his side was after the Sassuolo linchpin in a recent presser.

Our Take on Milan and Frattesi

While he has some experience in 4-2-3-1, he’s way better in 4-3-3 where he has more freedom for his signature channel runs. It might take some work, but playing as a no.10 in their design isn’t that different from starring as a box-to-box elsewhere. He’s particularly alluring for the Italian sides because his wages are affordable. On the other hand, it might take at least €30M to purchase him considering the competition, and those numbers aren’t for everybody.
