Milan Agree Terms with Fofana, No Accord with Monaco

Milan’s pursuit of Youssouf Fofana has almost reached its climax, with the Rossoneri now needing to tackle negotiations with AS Monaco regarding the player’s valuation. However, the presence of Premier League giants Manchester United is bound to unsettle the Italians as the transfer market reaches a tipping point.

According to RMC Sport, Fofana has reached a contractual agreement spanning four years with an option for a fifth with Milan after weeks of discussions. The 25-year-old center-back is expected to earn €3M plus €500k in bonuses, as per Calciomercato.

Milan will now need to convince the Monaco management with an appropriate sum, after an initial offer of €12M was considered inadequate. Any offer in the range of €20-30M is expected to do the deal, but with just one year left on his contract, Milan are looking for a discount.

AIS Sport Service, the agency that represents the young French defender, has reportedly been in good terms with Milan chief scout Geoffrey Moncada all throughout the process.

Atletico Madrid are also in the race to sign Fofana, but it is the Rossoneri who have made headway in transfer talks.
