Thanks to their outstanding youth academy and reputation as a South American giant, River Plate have produced some superb talents who have gone on to make a name for themselves in Europe – from Javier Mascherano and Alexis Sanchez to Hernan Crespo and Gonzalo Higuain. They now have another prospective departure in their ranks in versatile Argentine defender Fabrizio Angileri.
The top two clubs behind Angileri are Milan and Inter, according to Argentinian radio outlet Radio La Red (via Calciomercato.it). Both Milan giants are keen on bolstering their defence.
The Rossoneri due to the long-term injury of Simon Kjaer and the potential departure of Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer in the summer, most likely to Lazio. And the Nerazzurri are preparing to part ways with Stefan De Vrij, whereas Milan Skriniar’s stance is yet unknown. However, Simone Inzaghi’s outfit have Torino defender Gleison Bremer as their number one target. If Angileri would arrive, he would most probably play back-up to Robin Gosens.
Angileri is a versatile left-back capable of operating on various fronts, including as an inverted wingback on the right back. His style of play makes him a real tactical wild card, for either Pioli or Inzaghi. With a transfermarkt value of €4m set upon him, he is an affordable transfer target for any interested club, including Madrid natives Getafe.
According to La Razon, the Spaniards reportedly have Angileri shortlisted as a potential transfer incase one of their defenders – Mathias Olivera – leaves in the summer, with Napoli interested in the Uruguayan defender.
Angileri has been eyed in the past by Lazio, Valencia and Lille.
