Milan and Lazio Eye Verona Defender, January Move Unlikely

Milan and Lazio are tracking Verona revelation Nicolò Casale, but it will be impervious for them to sign him in January. The Scaligeri have rejected the opening offers, including one from Napoli. The two sides are monitoring the 23-year-old for the summer as well, Sky Sport reports.

The Rossoneri are looking for a new contributor right away, though. They have hit a dead-end for Sven Botman, and they are turning their attention to the alternatives. Eric Bailly is gaining steam, as he is not playing much at Manchester United. He would gladly accept a move to Serie A, the publication adds.

Milan and Lazio reached out to Verona in recent days, but they did not find an opening for an immediate transfer. The Gialloblù declined €8M bids from the Biancocelesti and Napoli. The Partenopei then went on to add Axel Tuanzebe on loan from the Red Devils.

The Rossoneri could find their new defender from the same team. Bailly has featured in just seven matches so far this season, finding some consistency only from November on. He is currently participating in the African Cup of Nations. He joined Manchester United from Villarreal for €38M in 2015. The 27-year-old is closer than PSG’s Abdou Diallo at the moment.

Milan will propose a loan, at most with an option to buy. The formula would keep their hands free for next summer when they will likely invest in the role. Botman and Bremer are their favorite targets in that sense.
