Milan have inquired about the availability of Mattias Svanberg, but Bologna want €15M for the midfielder and are not keen on selling him in January. He could be an option for the summer window, however also Leicester and Southampton are keeping tabs on him too, Sky Sport reported.
The 22-year-old Swedish midfielder has appeared 15 times so far, making ten starts, and has notched two goals and one assist and he is on pace to shatter his numbers from the previous two campaigns in Serie A, where he was not a regular starter.
Sky also informed that the Rossoneri met with the agent of Cagliari’s striker Leonardo Pavoletti and that the executives are mulling whether or not making and addition up front. They previously intended to not sign any forward, but it will hinge on how Zlatan Ibrahimovic will look in his first games back after a calf injury. Pavoletti would be among the opportunities if they changed direction.
Our view
Svanberg would surely be a much better signing that Soualiho Meite as he is enjoying a break-out season and is already accustomed to playing in the same scheme. However, he would not be as cheap and as the Torino midfielder, Bologna are looking to hold onto him and the competition is significant. Moreover, Milan could decide to rely on club-grown Tommaso Pobega, who is currently on loan at Spezia, in that role next season.
