Milan and Roma Legend Cafu Backs Former Team to Win Scudetto

Milan and Roma legend Cafu won two Serie A titles during his 11-year reign of right wing mastery in Italy. The Brazilian right-back has praised Stefano Pioli’s current Rossoneri team and backed them to go all the way until the end of the season on top of the table.

He was interviewed recently by Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews), during which he shared his thoughts on the three-way Scudetto race that has seen a shift in leadership of late.

“My evaluations arose from the fact that I already saw how Milan played earlier (in the season). I saw very good things, now they are confirming them: the possibility of winning the Scudetto has risen a lot,” said the legendary full back.

Inter’s unimpressive recent run of form has put the title race back where it began – with Milan on top. Speaking of which, Cafu pointed out the fact that the Rossoneri do not have to depend on anyone but themselves to grab the championship title.

He said: “I’m optimistic because I see a concentrated team, which now has the advantage of not depending on anyone.”

Milan lead the table with 66 points after 30 matches – three points more than Napoli and six more than third-placed Inter, who still have a game in hand.

Juventus’ resurgence of late has driven them back into the top-four, just one point behind Inter, usurping Atalanta, Fiorentina and other European hopefuls. The Bianconeri could very well be in the title race, specially if any of the top three falter again.
