Milan and Roma Revisiting Possible Swap of Attackers

Milan and Roma are ready to examine again a potential swap between Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers in the final hours of the window. The Rossoneri have been after the Englishman throughout the summer. However, they haven’t been able to find a solution for Luka Jovic at this stage, which is the premise for the deal, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Giallorossi outcast had his best season in Italy under coach Paulo Fonseca. The capital club has moved on from him by signing Artem Dovbyk. The gaffer wouldn’t mind keeping the utility player, but he could be sacrificed as the Rossoneri won’t match the striker’s valuation just with cash.

West Ham took an interest in Abraham but didn’t lodge a tangible bid, so Milan and Roma got in touch to discuss the trade idea involving Saelemaekers that was already on the table earlier in the summer. The main sticking point is cash consideration in favor of the Giallorossi.

Both players didn’t get minutes in the most recent round. Instead, the former Bologna loanee started at left-back in the opener as Theo Hernandez was eased into action.

Our Take on The Possible Abraham and Saelemaekers Swap Between Milan and Roma

Jovic worked out decently last season but Fonseca isn’t as high on him and quickly benched him, while he looks like a player who needs trust to show well. The Englishman is a reclamation project at this point, but they do need a backup center-forward given the situation. The Giallorossi don’t seem close to any other winger for now. The Belgian would come in handy as he thrived on the left flank last season. They’d have to sign a striker too afterward, though.
