Milan and Roma Set Sights on Bayer Leverkusen Starlet

Milan and Roma are both searching for a left-footed defender and are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Piero Hincapié. The Ecuadorian defender moved to Europe last summer and fared very well in his first season in Bundesliga.

The German side acquired him for €6M from Talleres. He had previously played at Independiente in his home country. He has 19 caps with his national team and is tied to his current side with a long-term contract that expires in 2026.

As per Corriere dello Sport, Hincapié might transfer for €15M, and Roma are keener on him than Milan. His agent Manuel Serra spoke with Tuttomercatoweb.

“He is very happy at Bayer Leverkusen and in Germany in general. I can confirm that the Rossoneri have taken at interest. However, we are discussing with his team how we could keep growing together.”

The Scudetto winners have also been linked to Abdou Diallo, whom they already tracked in January. PSG are looking to part ways with him, but only for a substantial fee, SportMediaset informs. The Giallorossi are eyeing a few options for the same role. While Clement Lenglet has been attached to them, he is more likely to wind up at Tottenham, Mundo Deportivo informs. The Blaugrana are unwilling to do them any favors after the Gamper Trophy fiasco.

Our Take on Roma and Milan Scanning Hincapié

The wonderkid would make sense for both sides, especially the Rossoneri, who like to invest in youngsters. On the other hand, the fact that he has not been with Bayer for long and his contract probably ensure that he will stay unless somebody blows them away with a really sizeable offer.
