These are hot days at the Stadio San Siro, with Milan accelerating talks to sign several top targets for the 2024/25 Serie A season. Fabrizio Romano claims the Italian heavyweights have scheduled fresh talks with RB Salzburg to discuss Strahinja Pavlovic’s transfer to Lombardia.
Milan and Pavlovic have already found common ground on personal terms. The highly-rated Serbian defender has agreed to a multi-year contract, putting pressure on Salzburg to sanction the move. However, there’s still a gap between supply and demand.
While Salzburg remain adamant the 23-year-old can’t depart Austria for less than €25 million, Milan will try to drive the price down to under €20m. Talks between the parties are ongoing, with a showdown discussion expected to occur in the coming hours.
Pavlovic could be a long-term replacement for Simon Kjaer, who waved goodbye to Milan at the end of last season. The versatile defender excelled at EURO 2024, even though Serbia couldn’t make it out of the group stages.
His performance against England was impressive, but it’s worth noting he fared equally well in the other two games against Denmark and Slovenia. Milan see Pavlovic as a decent investment for the future. If they pull off a deal with Salzburg, they could get a bargaining chip to convince Lazar Samardzic to switch to San Siro.
Milan have joined the race for the Udinese ace, who shares the dressing room with Pavlovic in the national team.
