After having exploratory talks with Lazar Samardzic’s father and agent, Milan reportedly kickstarted negotiations with Udinese. According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have made contact with the Friulians to understand the cost of the operation.
Milan carried out a survey with Samardzic’s father, Mladen, earlier this week, showing a clear ambition to include the Serbia international in their new project under Paulo Fonseca. Last season’s Serie A runners-up are the fourth top Italian club to gather information about the 22-year-old in the past 12 months.
Their fierce rivals Inter tried to sign the former RB Leipzig midfielder last season. However, while Samardzic was keen to join the Giuseppe Meazza powerhouse, his father and agent undermined the agreement at the 11th hour. They did the same with Napoli in January.
Before Milan, Lazio lined up in a long queue to hire Samardzic earlier in the summer after losing Luis Alberto to Al-Duhail. But Fonseca’s men have overtaken Claudio Lotito’s side in the race as they look to close the deal in a blitz.
Considering Udinese’s €25 million asking price, this won’t be a snap agreement, especially with Milan seeking a notable discount. They’re unwilling to go beyond the €20m mark, suggesting another summer-long transfer saga could be on the cards.
Separately from the Samardzic pursuit, Milan are working on Yossouf Fofana’s arrival from Monaco. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani are eager to reinforce Fonseca’s midfield department with two new acquisitions.
Yacine Adli could fall victim to the club’s bid to overhaul their midfield options, with Milan reportedly ready to listen to offers for the unsettled Frenchman.

We should try including Adli in the deal, it should be a win – win for both and meeting in the middle for the price
