Milan Announce Origi, Mull Tag Teaming for Salzburg Starlet

Milan confirmed to have signed Divock Origi, and have also laid their eyes on touted center-forward Benjamin Sesko, whom they are considering acquiring and loaning to Genoa in order for him to further develop.

The Liverpool super-sub officially signed a four-year contract with the Scudetto winners after leaving Anfield on a free transfer. He bagged 12 goals in 77 appearances with the Reds, taking home plenty of trophies.

Instead, the 19-year-old Slovene has a long-term contract with RB Salzburg. He found the target 5 times and provided 3 assists in 24 appearances in the Austria Bundesliga. His agent Elvin Basanovic addressed the rumors to Salzburg24.

“I have spoken with Paolo Maldini about several topics, and naturally his name came up. He knows everything about him. He will be one of the top strikers in Europe in the next five or six years.”

As per TeleNord, Milan could sign Sesko for €10M and re-route him to Genoa. He would start next to last season’s top scorer Massimo Coda, whom they just poached from Lecce. The Grifone have another Basanovic’s client on the roster in Rok Vodisek. The 19-year-old prodigy has 13 caps with his national team and hit the net twice. He played at Domzale and Liefering at the beginning of his young career.

Our Take on Milan, Origi and Sesko

The Rossoneri will inevitably have to start thinking about the future of their attack soon since Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are not getting any younger, and Divock Origi is more of a rotational piece than a linchpin. Snatching a prospect for a reasonable fee would be wise, although it is unlikely to be one of their priorities right now. Acquiring players from RB Salzburg is generally challenging, plus him moving to Serie B seems like a stretch.
