Sassuolo’s status as a feeder club has elevated young talents into the spotlight within no time, but one player has remained in the Neroverdi ranks uninterrupted for ten straight seasons. 27-year-old Domenico Berardi is being trailed by many top clubs, including Milan, but he is not the only Sassuolo player linked to the Rossoneri.
The Emilia-Romagna club’s CEO, Giovanni Carnevali, spoke to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) and shed thoughts on the EURO 2020 winner, saying that he doesn’t see stronger players in his role.
“He is our champion, he established himself by winning the European Championship, this year he scored 15 goals and made 14 assists. I don’t see stronger players in his role,” said Carnevali.
When quizzed whether Berardi was asked for by Milan, Carnevali didn’t hold back from revealing the situation.
He said: “At the time, before the club was at the center of sale negotiations, I had met the executives who had asked for information on more players. Now with the rumors of sale of the company blocked everything.”
From Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori to Gianluca Scamacca and Junior Traore, a number of top clubs, including Lazio, Inter, Juventus and Roma, apart from Milan, have been linked with transfer deals.
