Milan Young Attacker Garnering Interest, Barcelona Among Clubs Linked

Super agent Jorge Mendes was pictured in Milan last week to discuss with multiple teams. He had a meeting with the Rossoneri that was primarily centered on the future of Rafael Leao. Few clubs are tracking the Portuguese attacker. The Italian club has not made him available on the transfer market but will consider the offers, Calciomercato.com reports.

Leao was signed from Lille in 2019 for €29.5M and has been inconsistent during his time in Milan. He has alternated major flashes of talent with strings of apathetic performances. Moreover, he has not fully found his most comfortable spot in Stefano Pioli’s 4-2-3-1, featuring in multiple positions with mixed results. He has bagged 13 goals and notched 9 assists in 73 appearances.

Everton, Olympique Marseille, and Wolverhampton, which has clear ties with Mendes, have shown interest in Leao in recent days. Milan still believe in the potential of the 22-year-old but will listen to the possible bids. They want at least as much as they paid to get him two years ago.

The representative also offered him to Barcelona for €35M, Don Balon informs. The Blaugrana were in the running for the striker when he left Lille. They have no intention of spending that kind of money for a striker now. However, Milan are trying to sign Junior Firpo and could expand the deal to Leao, although the two players have diverse price tags.

The Rossoneri are working on their front-line as they are negotiating with Real Madrid to retain Brahim Diaz and to add Olivier Giroud from Chelsea. Plus, they are waiting for Hakan Calhanoglu’s answer on the new contract.
