Milan Back in the Orbit for Lyon Trequartista Aouar

Milan have resumed chasing after Houssem Aoaur, claims Calciomercato. The Olympique Lyonnais midfielder recently made headlines for switching allegiances to the Algerian national team – the country of his parents – after making just one appearance for France.

The highly-rated trequartista, who has largely been inflicted by recurring injuries and lack of game time under new coach Laurent Blanc, is in the final year of his contract. Aouar is not expected to renew with the club, and technical director Paolo Maldini is keen to boost his squad with the Algerian as one of his main targets. Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio is another potential option.

However, Milan are expected to face stiff competition for the Algerian playmaker. Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt and fellow Serie A giants Roma are also in contention to sign him on a Bosman transfer come June, but it is the German club who are reportedly leading the transfer race.

Aouar has been restricted to just 11 appearances in Ligue 1, amassing 461 minutes of playing time over the course of the season so far.
