Milan Book Emerson Royal Medicals Ahead of Highly-Awaited Move

One of the longest-running transfer sagas of the summer is drawing to a close, with Milan set to sign Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A runners-up have scheduled the Brazilian’s routine medical checks for Monday, while the player will touch down in Italy on Sunday.

Weeks of restless talks between Milan and Tottenham have finally paid off. New Rossoneri manager Paulo Fonseca is on the verge of completing his third summer signing after acquiring the services of Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic. Emerson has received Spurs’ authorization to book a flight to Italy ahead of his move to Milan.

Though the figures remain under wraps for now, Milan must have forked out at least €15 million to convince Tottenham to sanction the deal. The Premier League giants had long been holding out for their €20m price tag, but the player’s desire to continue his career at the Stadio San Siro has made the difference.

Emerson tumbled down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last term. After spending a year playing second fiddle to Pedro Porro, he’ll be keen to secure regular first-team football at Milan, with Davide Calabria’s place in the starting XI in jeopardy.

The Milan captain endured a torrid 2023/24 campaign, casting doubt on his first-team credentials. With Emerson on his way in, the Italian defender must be worried about his playing time, especially after several unconvincing performances during the team’s first pre-season under Fonseca.
