Milan Captain Calabria Slams Teammates After PSG Loss

Davide Calabria created a controversy with his harsh comments following the 0-3 loss to PSG in the third Champions League bout of the season. The fullback accused some of his teammates of lack of effort to Sky, Mediaset, and Prime Video (via Corriere della Sera).

“We bust our a**es in Milanello every day to play these crunch matches and we were aware of the importance of the game. We regret how the first two tilts went. Instead, they were stronger and exploited their chances today.”

“We aren’t finalizing well and are conceding too much to big teams. We must be more intense and attentive defensively. I don’t know if the issue is tactical or mental, maybe both.”

“PSG have a champion who scores on his first attempt, while we don’t. It’ll be hard to qualify now, but it’s not over yet. We’ll play our cards until the end. If somebody doesn’t believe we can do it, he should stay home.”

Pioli tried to soften the blow after the rant by Calabria.

“He made a mistake with his words. Nobody in Milanello works with poor attention or availability. It’s a heavy result, but we did everything we needed to do. We had the right attitude but were too imprecise and misplaced too many passes. They pressed us a lot, and it wasn’t easy to move the ball cleanly. I’m always worried when we lose twice in a row. I saw things we could change. We must never stop growing.”
