Milan Confident About New Theo Hernandez Contract

Milan will tackle the extension talks after the end of the summer window but believe it won’t be a problem to reach an agreement with Theo Hernandez unless something unexpected happens in the next couple of months, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

The Rossoneri are preparing a lucrative proposal that would make him the highest-paid player on the squad, along with Rafael Leao. He’ll be the vice-captain behind Davide Calabria. The club started setting up the renewal a few weeks back by meeting his agent Manuel Garcia Quillon.

Theo Hernandez is tied to Milan until 2026. If the negotiation forges ahead without a hitch, he’ll add a few more years to his deal and raise his wages to €6.5M annually including add-ons. Only a humongous bid could alter the outcome.

At this stage, the Rossoneri haven’t received any credible offer. The star has been occasionally linked to Bayern Munich to potentially replace Alphonso Davies and Real Madrid. The Canadian defender is still in Germany and not particularly close to leaving. Saudi teams are lurking too, but the Frenchman doesn’t appear interested in going there. Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated he would stay in a recent presser, while the defender wasn’t as explicit in some remarks during Euro 2024.

Our Take on Milan and Hernandez

There’s the right momentum, and, considering how hard they are bargaining every fee, they are indeed operating within a budget that doesn’t envisage a major sale. They didn’t act that way last summer after cashing in on Sandro Tonali, quickly reinvesting in multiple purchases. The salary wouldn’t be crazy yet.
