Milan Confident in Pioli Ability to Turn Things Around

Despite links to other coaches and their recent disappointing results, Milan are set to stick with Stefano Pioli for the rest of the season and likely beyond. The gaffer is under contract until 2025 and has the full support of the brass, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

President Paolo Scaroni spoke from New York on the matter.

“Our trust in Pioli is intact. We’re convinced that he’s the right manager to qualify for the Champions League next season. Anything more will surely be welcome.”

The Rossoneri powerbrokers believe they will be able to right the ship and easily finish in the top four despite their winless March Serie A-wise. They will face Napoli thrice in short order since they will also meet them in the top continental competition.

Pioli lifted Milan by turning to a three-man defense, but he should go back to the Scudetto-winning scheme soon, either in the first encounter with the Partenopei or versus Empoli next week. Pierre Kalulu will miss some time with a calf strain. Davide Calabria is next in line to replace him, regardless of the scheme.

The tactician is particularly well-liked within the club for his style and aplomb on and off the pitch. Strained relationships with players have derailed other sides, but that’s never been a problem for him.

Our Take on Milan and Pioli

That’s the right message to send, as a short-term change isn’t on the table despite their skid. Still, that shouldn’t preclude them from keeping every door open for the summer. The number of elite coaches available is growing by the day.
