Milan Consider Napoli Target Non-Transferable

Despite recently emerging as a transfer target for Napoli, United States international Yunus Musah will not leave Milan this summer. Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo took to X to say the Serie A runners-up have deemed the ex-Valencia star non-transferable.

Musah’s long-term prospects at Milan were in doubt earlier in the summer. The Italians were vying for the 21-year-old’s signature for months a year ago before eventually agreeing to pay Valencia €18m plus another €2m in add-ons to capture his services.

While he’s still young and has ample room for improvement, Musah stuttered in his first season at the Stadio San Siro. He made 40 appearances across all competitions, including 30 in Serie A. But he didn’t convince former Milan manager Stefano Pioli.

His proneness to rookie mistakes and notorious inconsistency raised questions about his future in Lombardia. With Milan bidding to bring Monaco stalwart Youssouf Fofana to Italy, Paulo Fonseca’s side will look to offload at least two midfielders by the end of the summer. However, Musah will not be one of them.

Fonseca reportedly sees the USMNT starlet as a potentially valuable asset ahead of the new campaign. Per Longo, Milan will ‘bet heavily’ on the versatile midfielder in 2023/24. With or without Fofana, Musah will play a prominent role in the Portuguese’s line-up.

Meanwhile, Fofana is on the verge of joining Milan. They’ve agreed on personal terms, and now it’s up to the Rossoneri to find common ground with Monaco.
