Milan Considered Frontrunners if Lucas Vazquez Left Real Madrid

Lucas Vazquez would like to renew his contract with Real Madrid, but Milan would be his preferred destination if he did not. The deal of the versatile winger is up in the summer, and he has yet to reach an agreement with his current team. He would have to accept a pay cut for it to happen because the Merengues are looking to lower their wages bill, AS reports.

The 29-year-old Spanish international has turned down an offer coming from Atletico Madrid. Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Inter are also interested, but the Rossoneri are in the lead as they proposed €4M per year. He is currently recovering from a partial ACL tear he suffered at the beginning of April.

Milan News reached out to AS journalist Juan Jimenez, who stated: “I do not know exactly what the relationship between Milan and Real Madrid is, I assumed it is good considering the Brahim Diaz deal, but maybe the Super League fiasco had some repercussions. Vazquez wants to stay and will wait for the Blancos until the last moment. We do not know that if the reported bid of the Italian club is real or not, it is surely the only one that really interests him. He instead rebuffed the Colchoneros.”

A product of Real Madrid youth academy Castilla, Vazquez has tallied 26 goals and 54 assists in 240 appearances with the Galacticos over the last six seasons, where he has featured in every position on the right flank. Milan continue to dip their toes into the free-agent pool as they pursued Otavio before he re-upped with Porto and are currently after Olympique Marseille’s Florian Thauvin.
