On Sunday night, Juventus are set to host Milan at the Allianz stadium in what should be a crucial match for both sides who want to secure their qualification to next season’s edition of the Champions League. Several duels will be taking place all over the pitch, including a tough battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and his marker Simon Kjaer.
Whilst the two men will be rivals on the pitch, the Rossoneri defender only had words of praise for the Portuguese superstar.
The Dane had been one of the most consistent players within Stefano Pioli’s lineup, with club captain Alessio Romagnoli and Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori competing for a starting berth beside him.
Kjaer gave an interview to Sky Sport (via ilBianconero) relishing his upcoming duel with Ronaldo.
“It has always been a pleasure to play against Ronaldo, ever since the first time we met on the field, about eleven or twelve years ago.
”He is someone who has changed a lot as a player compared to eleven years ago, he has always been a champion and there’s absolutely no need to discuss this point,” said the former Roma and Palermo defender.
”He lives to score goals. Sometimes he endures a tough match, but if he receives the ball in the 90th minute, he’ll do anything in his power to put it in the back of the net.
”Ronaldo is always ready throughout the match, which explains why he has always been at the top of the sport during the last fifteen years,” concluded Kjaer.
Whilst Juventus came out on top when the two sides met earlier in the season – thanks to Federico Chiesa’s brace – it remains to be seen who will take a step further towards Champions League qualification.
