Milan Defender Avoids Serious Problems, plus More Injury Updates

Simon Kjaer subbed off in the first half of the Juventus game due to a muscular problem. However, he escaped without severe injuries, and he will not be sidelined for long. Moreover, Milan strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud are improving.

According to Sky, the defender took some tests earlier this morning, which ruled out a strain or other substantial issues. He is experiencing discomfort in the flexor muscle of the right thigh. Kjaer will rest and rehab for a few days. He will miss the midweek round versus Venezia and most likely the Saturday game with Spezia as well. However, he could return in time for the clashes with Atletico Madrid and Atalanta coming up next week.

Milan are also waiting for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who sat out the last two games with Achilles soreness. The striker has worked individually on the pitch today. He will get the green light as soon as he is no longer in pain. A return on the bench versus Venezia is unlikely but not impossible. Giroud has better chances to be available Wednesday because his back pain has subsided. The Frenchman practiced in a limited fashion today.

Junior Messias has never been called up since joining Milan because he lacked conditioning. He is making progress in that regard. Davide Calabria is nursing a thigh pull, Rade Krunic a calf strain, and Tiemoué Bakayoko a knock to the Achilles tendon. The fullback could be back versus Atletico Madrid, but it is not a certainty. The two midfielders will probably be out until the second break.
