Milan Display Preliminary Interest in Brighton Defender

Milan have set sights on the Premier League to bolster their defense and, on top of Emerson Royal, they have started tracking Igor. Brighton signed him from Fiorentina for €16M plus €3M add-ons, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

His price tag is pretty much unchanged. The 26-year-old has been a regular in his first season with the Seagulls. He has appeared 33 times across all competitions. He has started 21 games in the domestic championship and Europa League.

Milan added Igor to their shortlist of options to replenish their rearguard. Simon Kjaer and Matteo Caldara will depart at the end of their expiring contracts. However, they have four other center-backs, Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu, and Matteo Gabbia, who returned early from a loan spell at Villarreal.

Their top three men at the position could potentially be sold for a profit to have more ammo. The Brighton man logged over 100 caps with Fiorentina before leaving Serie A. He was brought to the Peninsula by SPAL in 2019 after a few years in Austria with various teams. He was raised in the Red Bull network at the beginning of his career.

Our Take on Milan and Igor

The Rossoneri have two ways to improve in the back. They either sign a proper stud like for instance Alessandro Buongiorno, which wouldn’t be cheap. Or they can keep all their current pieces and hope for better health and lean on their natural progression since they are all young-ish.
