Milan Duo Named Among Top XI Players with Expiring Contracts

The free agent’s market has never been as glamorous as it looks at the moment. Whilst top players with expiring contracts used to be a rare exception in the past, it has slowly but surely become a much more familiar situation these days – especially with the best player of his generation being present on the list. Transfermarkt (via MilanNews.it) released a fantasy formation containing the Top XI players with expiring contracts, including Milan duo.

Whilst the men in question can still renew their deals with their currents employers, this scenario seems to be unlikely in most cases, as the negotiations had already broken down.

On the prestigious list, Serie A is represented with two players, both them being Rossoneri.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world, and the source chose him as the man between the posts in the fictional 3-5-2 formation.

The defense is composed of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, his potential replacement David Alaba ( who is set to leave Bayern Munich), and Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia – The Spaniard is widely expected to join Barcelona in the summer.

Another Milan star appears in midfield, and that is Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish international is yet to agree on a contract renewal with the Diavolo, and has been attracting the interest of several top European clubs, including Manchester United and Juventus.

The other two central midfielders are Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum (another Bianconeri transfer target) and PSG’s Julian Draxler.

On the wings, we find Olympique Marseille’s Florian Thauvin ( potentially followed by Milan), as well as the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

The Argentine legend could finally seek a new adventure after joining Barcelona almost 20 years ago.

Finally, Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay – another two free agents courted by Juventus – will lead the line.

Top XI (3-5-2): Donnarumma; Garcia, Ramos, Alaba; Thauvin, Calhanoglu, Wijnaldum, Draxler, Messi; Depay, Aguero.
