Milan Earmark Two Italian Players for Left-Back Role

Milan elected not to sign a proper Theo Hernandez deputy last summer and to lean on their youngsters, but they might change their mind in January. The Frenchman will miss the next two Serie A games due to a suspension. Paulo Fonseca will have to turn to either Pietro Terracciano, Alex Jimenez, or Davide Bartesaghi.

According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri will look for an Italian defender. It’d be easier with the lists. While they can always make room by selling players, they have filled all their spots for foreigners. They have two openings for footballers grown in the Peninsula.

Milan are after Patrick Dorgu, but he might be overqualified and too pricey. Instead, they have a better chance of signing either Fabiano Parisi from Fiorentina or Giuseppe Pezzella from Empoli. The former hasn’t played much following the arrival of Robin Gosens. He also has to compete with Cristiano Biraghi.

The Rossoneri are on great terms with the Tuscan Azzurri. They sent Devis Vasquez and Lorenzo Colombo there last summer with mutual satisfaction. The 26-year-old has had a strong start to the season after joining from Parma on a free transfer following underwhelming loan spells at Atalanta and Lecce.

Our Take on Milan, Parisi, and Pezzella

It wasn’t a priority because Hernandez basically plays all the time. They’ll surely necessitate a better no.2 if Paulo Fonseca wants to rotate more. The Fiorentina defender never found his footing with his current team, but he showed great promise and quality at Empoli and could easily bounce back with a change of scenery. It’d be a great opportunity for him, but he should go to a team where he’d be a regular.
