Milan Enter Transfer Race for Highly-Rated Manchester City Wing Wizard

Milan are shorthanded on the wings despite possessing a host of attacking talent – the likes of Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao to name a few. The lack of pure and consistent right wingers in their ranks is a cause of concern as the Rossoneri prepare to bolster the squad with under new management ahead of the 2022/23 season.

This has birthed links between Milan and a certain Manchester City wizard. According to reports from FootMercato, 31-year-old Cityzens winger Riyad Mahrez has garnered the Rossoneri attention after playing out an excellent 2021/22 season under Pep Guardiola.

His transfer is expected to add experience to the Milan forward line but more importantly improve the right wing, where he has shone time and again for City – the same position the Italians lack in alternatives.

He has a year left on his English contract, and Milan might just be able to negotiate a discounted price from his €40m transfermarkt value.

Mahrez is expected to take up a role on the right wing as an inverted winger. Alexis Saelemaekers, Junior Messias and Samu Castillejo are the only pure right wingers in Stefano Pioli’s team but none of them have clicked as expected.

The Algerian’s fine form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with El Clasico rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also in the fray for his signature.

Milan’s presence only spices up the transfer race for the highly-rated winger, who is in the form of his life, bagging 23 goals and 8 assists in 42 appearances for the current English champions this season.
