Serie A runners-up Milan are apparently not only thinking of signing Udinese stalwart Lazar Samardzic, but they also take concrete steps to secure his services. According to Fabrizio Romano’s recent update, the Rossoneri opened talks with the player’s father, Mladen, and his agent, Tolga Dirican, on Thursday.
Samardzic was on the verge of teaming up with Inter last summer. However, the move collapsed at the 11th hour due to his entourage’s late attempts to squeeze more money out of the Nerazzurri. The same scenario happened in January when the Serbia international’s camp sunk a Napoli transfer right ahead of the finish line.
Despite being aware of Samardzic’s nasty habits, Milan consider adding him to Paulo Fonseca’s midfield department. Apart from his camp’s greediness, there’s no other reason the 19-time Serie A champions shouldn’t pursue a deal for the 22-year-old playmaker.
Samardzic, who swapped RB Leipzig for Udinese in the summer of 2021, has been a rare shining light at the Bluenergy Stadium over the past two years. Milan have noted his playmaking skills and a keen eye for goal, which saw him tally six goals and two assists in 34 league appearances last season.
In addition to exploring the possibility of acquiring Samardzic, Milan continue to make progress in their pursuit of Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana. After reaching a verbal agreement with the French star, they’re closing in on a deal with the Ligue 1 heavyweights.
As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have put forward a new offer for the 25-year-old worth €12m plus add-ons. Though Monaco are sticking to their €18m valuation, the player’s desire to move to San Siro could be a crucial factor.
