Milan Examine Bid for Paris Saint-Germain Veteran Di Maria

Earlier in the January transfer window, La Repubblica (via SempreMilan) reported of Milan’s chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain ace Angel Di Maria. However, that move never came into fruition. The former Real Madrid winger sees out his contract at the end of the season and is one of the high-profile names up for a Bosman deal in the summer.

Amid links and offers from several Brazilian giants, including Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo and Corinthians, the Rossoneri have re-emerged as one of the interested clubs for the 34-year-old’s signature, according to PianetaMilan. The report mentions of Milan’s potential move for Di Maria ahead of the 2022/23 season, although the highly-rated winger is in the latter stages of his career.

He is touted to seamlessly fit into Stefano Pioli’s attacking 4-2-3-1 formation and above all, the Argentina talisman would have the chance to continue playing competitive football at the highest levels – vying for Serie A and the Champions League next season.

His future at Parc des Princes remains uncertain and a short-term extension of his contract is also up on the PSG management’s cards.

The enigmatic winger has always made it clear that he prefers to end his career in his native Argentina, with his boyhood club Rosario Central. But that still seems to be a few years away and only time will tell if Milan will consider bidding for him.

Di Maria has scored an impressive 90 goals in 287 appearances the Parisians since his failed one-season spell at Manchester United in 2014/15.
