Milan Exec Muses on Leao, Pioli, January, and Frontline

Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani commented on several matters concerning his side during the unveiling of their fourth kit. He was asked about the chatter involving Rafael Leao and their January window (via Mediaset).

“All our players are appreciated. He has been unlucky in front of the goal, but he’ll resume scoring. We’re happy with the return of Matteo Gabbia. We have Simon Kjaer, Jan-Carlo Simic, and other players who are coming back. I always said that we wouldn’t buy just because. We have options, and the emergency is in the past. Completing more signings would have been crowd-pleasing but not a real need.”

Furlani dished on the future of the Milan bench.

“I’m bored too by the whispers about it in January. Stefano Pioli is our coach, and we’re with him. Zlatan Ibrahimovic repeated it recently because these rumors are annoying. We’re grateful for what he has done so far and we’re lucky to have him with us for now. We go on the pitch to win every game, and then we’ll take stock at the end of the season.”

Furlani was quizzed about Olivier Giroud and Milan target Joshua Zirkzee.

“Olivier is a great champion. He joined with a two-year contract and has done so well that we decided to continue. He’s faring even better this season. Zirkzee had a good game against us, but he belongs to another team. It’s too soon to talk about him. I’m not surprised by Luka Jovic. I was sure he’d perform like this.”
