Milan Express Early Interest in Outbound Torino Loanee

Torino wanted to keep Josip Brekalo after the loan spell, but the player rejected it, and Milan are considering him. The Granata had an €11M option to buy him but let it lapse. He has been productive in his first season in Serie A, tallying 7 goals and 2 assists in 31 appearances.

His agent Andy Bara motivated the decision to TuttoSport: “He wants to play in Champions League. Torino always behaved correctly. It was not a matter of money but simply ambition. I understand their move since he is not 100 percent sure about staying. This does not mean that he would not have given his whole to the team. He was not asking for a raise or anything. His dream is to play on bigger stages and be called up for the next World Cup. He hopes to be signed by a top club that participates in a continental competition after having a strong campaign in one of the most challenging leagues.”

According to the publication, Milan already pursued Brekalo when Zvonimir Boban was at the helm, but they could not sanction a deal with Wolfsburg. He would come relatively cheap since his contract runs out in 2023. He fits the profile of the players Elliott generally looks for and would fill a need.

Torino and Milan could have further entanglements on the transfer market on top of Brekalo. The Granata will try to use the money they saved to acquire Tommaso Pobega. And they would target Junior Messias if the Rossoneri did not redeem him from Crotone.
