Milan Eye Bologna’s Arnautovic as Alternative Striker

Milan will change the face of their attack come summer, with only Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud from the forward line expected to stay put at San Siro. Divock Origi, Ante Rebic, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and perhaps even Junior Messias expected to leave the club at the end of the season. With such upheavals incoming, the Rossoneri are ready to invest in the transfer market for new forwards.

According to Calciomercato, there is concrete interest in Bologna center-forward Marko Arnautovic. The Austrian striker is seen as a solid alternative to arrive at the club given his experience in Serie A, even spending an unsuccessful loan stint at Inter back in 2009/10.

Apparently, Roma made moves for Arnautovic earlier, but the striker wants a transfer to the Rossoneri instead. He is affordable, experienced and reliable – three factors might prove to be the deciding factor for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to start negotiations.

Arnautovic is 34 though, a factor that will prompt Milan to channel their focus on securing a younger striker first. Arsenal loanee and Reims striker Folarin Balogun, Udinese forward Beto, and Sassuolo’s Armand Lauriente are all concrete young options for the club.

Arnautovic has 23 goals in 53 appearances for Bologna since he joined the club.
