Milan Eyeing Bologna Up-and-Comer Alongside Multiple Serie A Clubs

Milan are among the Serie A teams eyeing Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten. The 24-year-old pivot fits the profile of the prospective signings the Rossoneri will attempt to bring in this summer. Atalanta, which seek an alternative to Marten De Roon, and Napoli are also interested in the Dutchman, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Milan have yet to make an offer but have scouted him intensely last season. Schouten was acquired for just €2M from Excelsior two summers ago and quickly asserted himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in Serie A. Since joining, he ranks fourth in the entire League for most recuperations and interceptions. He is under contract until 2024, and his price tag is around €18M, the Italian outlet indicates.

Schouten is very tight with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, and their future may be connected. The coach is not certain to stay with the Felsinei and has been approached by Lazio, although he is not the frontrunner to replace Simone Inzaghi. He would quickly become a target for the next club of the gaffer.

In the midfield, Milan are trying to re-negotiate with Brescia the terms for the acquisition of Sandro Tonali. If they did not change, they would pay further €25M to make the deal permanent after the €10M fee for the initial loan. They remain keen on retaining the Italian youngster under any circumstance. They also have to decide on the €8M option to acquire Soualiho Meite from Torino, while Rade Krunic is considered likely to leave.
