Milan Eyeing Two Cheap Options to Serve as Theo Hernandez Backup

Milan are looking to add a left-back with a limited investment. In the last few days, they have begun tracking Monaco’s Fodé Ballo-Touré and Parma’s Giuseppe Pezzella. The talks are more advanced with the former, Sky reports.

However, the two sides have different ideas about the terms of the deal. The Rossoneri want to add him on loan with a €4M option to buy. The French club would rather insert an obligation to acquire him for at least €6M. They need to negotiate a little, but there is positive momentum, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

Ballo-Touré joined Monaco from Lille for €11M in 2019. He has accumulated 74 appearances over the last 2 seasons, providing 8 assists. He is a product of the PSG academy and has 4 caps with Senegal. RMC Sport was the first to report about the Milan interest in the 24-year-old defender.

Pezzella, who is coming off a decent season despite the relegation, is the other option for the role. He tallied 1 goal and 4 assists in the past campaign, his most productive yet. However, Sampdoria and Salernitana are also chasing after him and would give him a bigger role, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

Milan used Diogo Dalot as a backup on both defensive flanks last season, but he was on loan from Manchester United. They have so far struggled to come to terms with the Red Devils to bring him back. They could soon move onto other targets for the right-back position, such as Alvaro Odriozola and Serge Aurier, Sky indicates.
