Milan Faithful Target Franck Kessié in Sampdoria Showdown

Milan’s Curva Sud are expecting a Donnarumma-esque outcome for the club regarding the future of few players whose contracts expire at San Siro at the end of the season. During the 1-0 victory against Sampdoria on the weekend, the club’s ultras decided to send a message to the handful of Rossonero who see out their contract at the end of the season, in June 2022.

Theo Hernandez is the most recent acquisition into the ranks of the extension club, having renewed his deal on a five-year deal that only expires in 2027. Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao are expected to join the Frenchman soon enough, but it is the wavering players who the supports are worried about.

The Curva Sud unveiled a banner during the match against the Blucerchiati saying: “Whoever lives Milan can prove it with facts. Best regards to the ones who are dissatisfied.”

Franck Kessié is likely the subject of the banner, given his ongoing transfer saga with the club. The Ivorian international has largely been credited to interest from clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Juventus and Liverpool. According to recent reports from Marca (via 90min), Kessié is said to be interested in a move to Barcelona to play under Xavi Hernandez.

His high salary demands have so far put the Milan management off in terms of a renewal deal.

However, he is not the only player whose contract expires in coming June. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessio Romagnoli are the other high-profile players who are contracted until June.

Other than Hernandez, Calabria, Saelemaekers, Kjaer and Gabbia have already extended their stay in Milan. Coach Stefano Pioli also recently outstretched his stay until next year.

Milan will look to avoid happenings such as the ones they faced with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.
