Milan Finally Set to Sign Emerson Royal

Serie A runners-up Milan are reportedly one step away from announcing Tottenham Hotspur defending as their second summer signing. According to Fabrizio Romano, the final round of talks between the two clubs will take place today after the player agreed on personal terms with the Rossoneri.

Milan have been on Emerson’s trail since the beginning of the summer. With Paulo Fonseca seeking a decent replacement for Davide Calabria, the Brazilian full-back has emerged as the club’s top priority to address the right flank.

Frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at Tottenham, Emerson agreed to join Milan weeks ago. However, the Italian giants have struggled to find common ground with Spurs. Despite their readiness to cash in on the former Barcelona ace, the Premier League team had refused to budge on their €25 million valuation.

But after Emerson pushed for a move, Tottenham have wavered on their stance, facilitating the 25-year-old’s long-awaited switch to Milan. The versatile defender fell out of favor in North London last season. Pedro Porro’s rise to prominence saw him nail down a starting berth under Ange Postecoglou as his own.

Emerson hopes the impending transfer to Milan could offer him a fresh start. It’s still uncertain whether he’ll dislodge Calabria or play second fiddle to the Rossoneri captain.

But he’d be a valuable addition after Alessandro Florenzi, who deputized for the Milan skipper last season, suffered a potentially long-term injury in a 3-2 friendly win against Manchester United at the weekend.
